Committees (Chairperson)


BOARD OF DIRECTORS (Peter Wells)

  • Directs all foundation operations and authorizes standing and special committees to support the foundation’s objectives.

STEERING COMMITTEE (Jason McGee)

  • Provides day-to-day oversight, management, and planning of  WIMHF operations.  Coordinates all subcommittees, sets schedules for Suva activities, recommends operational changes to the Board of Directors (BoD).  Chaired by a board member when possible. Responsible for Board recruitment.

OPERATIONS COMMITTEE (Gary McIntyre)

  • Ensures that the Schooner Suva is maintained and operated to a high standard of safety and ensuring safe voyages for all crew and passengers. Chaired by the Senior Captain.

MAINTENANCE COMMITTEE (Kirby Stevens)

  • Provides oversight, management, and planning of Schooner Suva maintenance and repairs as required for safe operations and maintaining US Coast Guard Certificate of Inspection.

SCHEDULING COMMITTEE (Kathy Cotner)

  • Works to ensure that all scheduled Suva sails are adequately staffed with qualified crew. Coordinates with prospective charter customers to meet their requests for voyages if possible.

TRAINING COMMITTEE (Gary McIntyre)

  • Provides management and implementation of the training and qualification program for WIMHF sailing crew and support staff in the operation of S/V Suva and other vessels as required. The committee develops training standards for crewmembers as required for safe operations and maintaining US Coast Guard Certificate of Inspection.

FUNDRAISING COMMITTEE

  • Planning and conducting events that involve fundraising, including party planning that has fundraising goals. The Committee seeks to identify and apply for relevant grants and gifts from foundations. Coordinates with the Treasurer for budget guidance.  

MARKETING COMMITTEE (Tim Neal)

  • Prepares and presents information about the WIMHF to the greater Whidbey Island community with the aim of soliciting contributions, donations, and revenue from the sale of appropriate goods. Coordinates with the Treasurer for budget guidance.  

FINANCE COMMITTEE (Jason McGee)

  • Provides oversight, management, and planning of the Foundation operating budget and financial assets.

MEMBERSHIP ADVISORY COMMITTEE (Chris Bradly)

  • Acquire new members, support current members, and represent members at the BoD meeting.

EVENTS ADVISORY COMMITTEE

  • Identifies potential events, develops resource needs, and presents recommendations to the BoD for approval and execution.
